Nikon UK launch a revolutionary new camera to key press and retailers

In October Nikon UK took key press and retailers to Shanghai to showcase a new camera that would enable them to test out the fastest camera around in a completely different environment whilst getting some unique shots and also visiting the factory in Wuxi where the cameras are manufactured.

After an overnight flight, the group was thrown straight into the programme to try and avoid any jetlag.  Lunch at the fabulous Waldorf Astoria Shanghai was followed by an afternoon of ‘Photography on The Move’ (the first opportunity to try out the cameras).  Twenty motorbikes with side cars displaying Nikon logos were lined up outside the hotel in order to whisk the group around the former French concession visiting Xin Tian Di, Tian Zi Fang and Fuxing Park.  The evening function included a private dinner cruise up the River Bund so the team could see the famous bright lights and neon signs whilst enjoying a fabulous buffet.

The second day of the event was a continuation of the arrival day and getting to use and test out the cameras whilst experiencing more of Shanghai.  Places of interest included the Shanghai Museum and Jing An Temple.  After lunch, at the well known Green Ripple where lots of celebrities have visited, an afternoon Tour of Yuyuan Garden & the Old Town was taken which included the group taking part in a traditional tea ceremony.  The day concluded with dinner at local restaurant before taking in the spectacular ERA acrobatic show with some breathtaking stunts.

The third day involved visiting the Nikon factory in Wuxi, which gave all the attendees a chance to see the camera in the making and ask questions about the design and manufacturing.  Lunch was then taken at the international Pan Pacific Hotel in the city of Suzhou, just a short drive from the factory followed by a boat trip along the famous Grand Canal and a visit to an 80 year old Siilk spinning factory.  Back in Shanghai, dinner was in a typical Shanghainese restaurant with a small sample of Chinese opera followed by some post dinner drinks late into the night at Vue Bar – named for its views of the Bund and Shanghai.

The final day allowed the retailers and press some time to themselves in order to test out the camera on their own, write their own blogs, have interviews with the Nikon staff or simply relax and enjoy the facilities at the beautiful hotel.   To conclude the event the final evening included an exclusive cocktail reception at the Wuxlixang museum for the group followed by a private dinner at T8.

The group was then flown home the next morning with Virgin direct back to Heathrow on a day flight.  Overall it was deemed a great success with fantastic feedback to all those that attended.
